Security Agencies Deploy Ahead of Buhari’s Burial in Daura

The Katsina State Police Command has announced the deployment of robust security measures in Daura and across the state ahead of the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the command, the coordinated operation is being led by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 14, Katsina, in collaboration with other sister security agencies. The goal, it said, is to ensure a smooth and hitch-free burial ceremony.
Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, conveyed the Command’s heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Katsina State, as well as the family and associates of the late president. In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the police acknowledged Buhari’s “contributions to the nation’s development and growth.”
In a related development, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,807 personnel across strategic locations in the state. State Commandant Aminu Datti announced the deployment during a meeting with senior officers at the NSCDC Headquarters in Katsina on Monday.
Datti said the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr. Abubakar Audi, expressed deep sorrow over Buhari’s death and directed full-scale security coverage before, during, and after the burial.
He further outlined key operational strategies including surveillance, intelligence gathering, community engagement, and synergy with other security agencies. Special units and departments have been mobilised to sensitive locations such as Daura—the hometown of the late president—the Umar Musa Yar’adua International Airport, and the palaces of the Emirs of Daura and Katsina.
“Personnel deployed must be very professional and synergize with other security agencies to ensure adequate security,” Commandant Datti said.
