Major Power Outage Plunges Parts of Lagos Into Darkness

A damaged 150 MVA power transformer at the Egbin Transmission Substation has triggered massive load shedding, cutting electricity supply to several parts of Lagos State.
The disruption has hit areas served by the 33-IkoroduTCN-AGBOWA and 33-OdogunyanTCN-FAKALE MAYA feeders, leaving residents in Ikorodu, Agbowa, Fakale, and Maya without power.
“We want to apologize and inform the general public that we are aware of the poor power supply currently being experienced in these communities,” the electricity distribution company said. “Our technical teams, in collaboration with TCN, are working tirelessly to restore normal supply as quickly as possible.”
The company thanked residents for their patience and understanding during the outage, which it described as a challenging situation.
While repairs are ongoing, no specific date has been given for full restoration, with customers advised to monitor official channels for updates.
