DSS urges Nigerians to be security conscious

The Department of State Services (DSS) has urged Nigerians to avoid violence, fake news, and divisive actions during and after the Yuletide season for the sake of public order and national security.
A statement by Peter Afunanya, Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at the DSS National Headquarters in Abuja, urges citizens to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
It also advised citizens and residents to report suspicious persons, movements, parcels and objects to relevant security agencies.
The statement urges operators and patrons of public spaces to protect their facilities and users.
The Service felicitated with Nigerians on the occasions of Christmas and the coming New Year.
It read “Therefore, the Service enjoins members of the public to use the opportunity of the celebration to promote unity and peaceful coexistence. Meanwhile, it will continue to collaborate with sister security and law enforcement agencies and all stakeholders to provide adequate security before, during and after the festive periods.”
