Yahaya Bello Denies 2027 Presidential Ambition, Backs Tinubu’s Re-election

Former Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has dismissed claims that he is preparing to contest against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, stating clearly that he has no presidential ambition.
In a statement signed by his Media Director, Michael Ohiare, Bello expressed shock over a resurfaced video from his 2022 rally, which was falsely portrayed as a recent campaign against President Tinubu.
“While we state categorically that our principal, Bello, has no 2027 presidential ambition, we want to also stress his unflinching commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu come 2027,” the statement read.
Ohiare emphasized that the video being circulated bears visible 2022 dates on banners and accused political detractors of spreading misinformation to mislead Nigerians.
“Nigerians should disregard the mischievous post insinuating a fresh presidential support rally — it is nothing more than a senseless post by a confused, witless mind,” he said.
He described the viral clip as the handiwork of individuals bent on tarnishing Bello’s image and stirring conflict between him and President Tinubu.
“This is not the first time detractors and their co-travellers have fabricated absolute falsehood to set the former governor against the president,” he added.
Ohiare concluded by urging the public to remain vigilant against those “who concoct stories without thinking, just to satisfy the interests of their paymasters,” stressing that the post was a desperate attempt to create a crisis where none exists.
