Troops Recover Illegal Weapons in Taraba, Two Suspects Arrested

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested two suspects and recovered a cache of illegal weapons in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State, as part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of arms trafficking and insecurity.
The operation, which targeted criminal hideouts in Gayama village, followed credible intelligence on the presence of illegal arms in the area.
“This was disclosed in a press statement issued by the 6 Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Captain Olubodunde Oni.”
During the raid, the troops apprehended two suspects identified as Haruna Samari and Dantala Mamman. A large cache of weapons was seized, including one submachine gun, a magazine loaded with ten rounds of 9mm ammunition, an empty case of 7.62mm special ammunition, two fabricated rifles, and three single-barrel guns.
Additional items recovered include three Dane guns, five live cartridges, four empty cartridge cases, one Beofeng radio, and a helmet.
The suspects are currently in custody undergoing further investigation.
The Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift and decisive action and reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in Taraba State.
He also appreciated the support of the public and encouraged continued cooperation. “We urge members of the public to keep providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations across the state,” he said.
