Tinubu to Super Falcons — Finish Strong, Bring the Trophy!

As Nigeria’s Super Falcons prepare to face Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final tonight, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has delivered a stirring message of support, urging the team to make history once again by clinching their 10th WAFCON title.
In a personally signed statement released on Saturday, the President praised the team’s exceptional performance throughout the tournament, calling it “awe-inspiring.” He said the nation stood proudly behind them, cheering with hope and admiration.
The President applauded the Falcons for embodying “pride, honour, and strength,” both in their matches and beyond the pitch. He made special mention of their heartfelt visit to South Africa’s Gabriela Salgado after her injury, describing it as a moment that “reflects our shared humanity, empathy, and sisterly affection, which we Africans hold in high regard.”
Highlighting the team’s near-flawless record, Tinubu said, “If statistics alone win matches, you are already champions.” He pointed out their unbeaten group-stage run, commanding performances in the knockouts, and the single goal conceded up to the semi-final as proof of their dominance.
Reminding them of their flawless track record in WAFCON finals, Tinubu said the Falcons had triumphed in all nine of their previous final appearances. This, he said, was a legacy worth extending.
To demonstrate national backing, the President announced a high-powered delegation to support the Falcons live in Rabat. The team includes the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko.
He also extended gratitude to the players’ families, coaches, fans, the Nigerian community in Morocco, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, and the Nigerian Mission for their steadfast support throughout the tournament.
Ending on a high note, the President declared, “You will finish strong by the Grace of God. Go for the tenth! Bring the trophy home. Your fellow countrymen and women, young and old, are rooting for you.”
With the nation united behind them, the Super Falcons now stand just one game away from glory. President Tinubu, along with millions of Nigerians, awaits their triumphant return to Abuja—with the trophy in hand.
