Tinubu seeks stronger US-Africa ties

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to forging robust partnerships with the United States—built on transparency, mutual opportunity, and shared goals to elevate Africa’s standing in the global economy.
President Tinubu, who was speaking in Paris, France, hosted Massad Boulos, a senior US State Department representative from President Donald Trump’s administration and current Senior Advisor for Africa.
Their discussions focused on establishing a strategic economic and security alliance between Nigeria, Africa, and the United States—anchored on mutual respect, regional stability, and prosperity.
Mr Boulos conveyed President Trump’s strong interest in deepening direct US engagement with Nigeria as a central pillar of Washington’s relationship with the African continent. He said the US was eager to boost American investments across Nigeria and Africa, particularly in energy, infrastructure, trade, and job creation.
The leaders also exchanged views on advancing regional peace, with a focus on the conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and the broader Sahel region.
Mr Boulos acknowledged Nigeria’s leadership on the continent and praised President Tinubu’s role in driving stability and economic development in key regions.
