Tinubu Quietly Overhauls NTA Leadership in Strategic Shake-Up

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved sweeping changes at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), appointing a new leadership team in what insiders describe as a calculated move to reposition the state broadcaster.
According to official documents seen by Politics Nigeria, the reshuffle—conveyed through a presidential directive—ushers in:
● Mr. Rotimi Pedro as Director-General, NTA
● Karima Bello as Executive Director, Marketing
● Stella Din as Executive Director, News
● Sophia Essahmed as Managing Director, NTA Enterprises Ltd
Though the Presidency has yet to release a formal announcement, sources within the information sector say the shake-up is part of a broader media realignment strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. The aim, they claim, is to boost NTA’s competitiveness while aligning its messaging with the administration’s priorities.
For decades, NTA—Africa’s largest TV network by reach—has been under pressure to modernise, adapt to digital platforms, and reclaim its influence in an increasingly competitive media market. The new team is expected to spearhead reforms in programming, strengthen online presence, and revitalise revenue generation.
Political analysts observe that Tinubu’s choices blend public service veterans with private-sector heavyweights, a signal that the government is seeking both institutional knowledge and commercial agility.
In Abuja’s media and political circles, the move is already sparking quiet speculation—particularly over whether other state-run media organisations might be next in line for leadership changes.
