Tinubu Appoints New Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Mainasara Umar Kogo as the new Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), according to a statement released by the Presidency.
Dr. Kogo, a renowned lawyer and analyst, is expected to bring his wealth of experience in law, security, economy, politics, and international diplomacy to the position.
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, sees Dr. Kogo replacing Justice Danladi Umar, who has been the chairman of the CCT since 2011.
According to the statement signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu expects Dr. Kogo to discharge his duties with professionalism, integrity, and fidelity to the nation.
The Code of Conduct Tribunal is a specialized court established to try public officers for any violation of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers, including corruption, misconduct, and breach of public trust.
Dr. Kogo’s appointment is seen as a move by the Tinubu administration to strengthen the fight against corruption and ensure accountability in government.
The new CCT chairman has a reputation as a seasoned legal expert and analyst, and his appointment has been widely welcomed by legal and political observers.
In his new role, Dr. Kogo will be responsible for leading the tribunal in investigating and prosecuting public officers who violate the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
