Super Falcons Get Full Allowances Ahead of WAFCON Final

President Bola Tinubu has approved the full payment of allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons as they prepare for their final clash against Morocco in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, confirmed on Thursday that all entitlements — covering up to the July 26 final — had been disbursed for immediate payment to players, coaches, and officials.
Describing the move as “policy in motion,” Dikko said it reflects a renewed commitment to the welfare of Nigerian athletes under President Tinubu’s leadership.
“This is the kind of sports administration we are building, one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity,” he said, adding that future generations will appreciate the reforms.
Dikko also assured that timely payments would now become the new standard — without the delays and drama of the past.
The same gesture has been extended to D’Tigress, Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, who are set to begin their 2025 FIBA Women AfroBasket campaign in Côte d’Ivoire.
