Soludo Defends Tinubu Friendship, Says ‘I Have no Apologies’

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has openly declared that his long-standing friendship with President Bola Tinubu is non-negotiable, regardless of political party lines.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after meeting Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Soludo — who belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) — made it clear that his personal bond with the president runs deeper than partisan politics.
“I have no apologies about it. President Tinubu is my friend, has been my friend, (for) 22 years now and counting. So, you don’t deny your friend. He is my friend. I support him, I am impressed by the bold steps he has taken, particularly in the area of the economy,” Soludo stated.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor even appeared in a cap with inscriptions pledging support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His remarks come against the backdrop of the political ambitions of his predecessor, Peter Obi, who is also seeking the presidency in 2027 — a bid Soludo has openly opposed.
