Six Persons Dead, Several Injured in Delta Bridge Accident

Six dead bodies were evacuated from the scene of a ghastly auto crash on the ever-busy Udu bridge in Delta State on Monday afternoon as a truck rammed into a broken-down trailer.

The sad incident occurred when a Julius Berger truck rammed into a stationary trailer that was broken down on the bridge.

The magnitude of the collision was severe, causing the trailer to topple and crushing a mechanic working underneath it.

According to eyewitnesses  the accident happened when the truck driver attempted to avoid a tricycle possibly due to brake failure but unfortunately collided with the trailer killing the mechanic and crushing three other tricycles with passengers.

“Consequently, the impact caused the trailer to topple, killing the mechanic and crushing three moving tricycles with passengers”, one of the witnesses who sought anonymity stated.

Workers, students, and traders commuting into Warri and surrounding areas were severely affected, with many forced to seek alternative routes on foot as emergency responders struggled to access the scene.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, could not be reached for confirmation of the exact death toll arising from the accident, as of the time of filing this report.

The six bodies recovered from the scene of the accident as well as those who sustained injuries were taken to a nearby hospital by emergency responders
