Shettima Arrives London to Escort Former President Buhari Remains Back to NigeriaCrime

Vice President Kashim Shettima with the chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila on Monday morning arrived in the United Kingdom from where he is expected to convey the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria for burial.
Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha made the disclosure early Monday morning, noting that the VP was received at the hospital by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuff Tuggar.
He is accompanied on the trip by his wife, Nana Shettima and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
They were received at the airport by a delegation that included Borno State Governor, Babagana Umaru Zulum.
Presidential sources indicated that the VP left Nigeria around 12 midnight on Sunday to the UK.
Once all formalities are completed at the hospital the body will be flown to Nigeria and the transferred to Daura in Katsina State for his burial according to Islamic rites.
The burial is expected to bring together eminent Nigerians, Politicians across the divide, Business leaders, Traditional rulers and the common people who were his greatest support base especially in the North.
Former President Buhari reportedly died in London at approximately 4:30 pm on Sunday after a prolonged illness.
