Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale is under investigation after authorities seized his luxury Lamborghini Urus as part of a joint operation between Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the U.S. Department of Justice.

The 2019 Lamborghini Urus, confiscated in June 2025 from Shatta Wale’s Trassaco Valley Phase 1 home in Accra, has been linked to proceeds from transnational financial crimes.

In a statement, EOCO’s Acting Executive Director Raymond Archer revealed that the seizure followed a 2023 request by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice. The vehicle is reportedly tied to Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian national serving an 86-month sentence in the U.S. for fraud-related offenses including romance scams and business email compromise schemes.

The car was traced to Shatta Wale, prompting EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) to launch the operation. The raid, described as lawful and incident-free, was carried out with professionalism, according to EOCO.

Shatta Wale was present during the seizure and reportedly pleaded with authorities to keep the matter private, stressing the vehicle’s importance to his public image. He later handed over the keys voluntarily. The car is now in EOCO’s custody, pending a formal Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) request from U.S. authorities for its repatriation.

EOCO clarified that SARU officers are always armed during such operations for safety reasons.

Both Shatta Wale and a former senior official of Ghana’s National Signals Bureau (NSB) have been named persons of interest in the ongoing investigation. They are expected to be invited for questioning, with EOCO possibly sharing its final report with U.S. authorities as part of the cross-border crackdown on financial crimes.
