Illegal motor parks pose security risk in Kano – RTEAN

The Kano State branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has expressed concern over the activities of illegal and private transportation companies and motor parks, citing them as a threat to security in the state.
Chairman of the Kano State RTEAN, Alhaji Jibril Mustafa, disclosed this in Kano.
The menace of illegal motor parks in Kano is a significant concern, posing a threat to security and safety in the state.
These illegal motor parks are often characterized by their lack of regulation, posing risks to passengers and their luggage.
The RTEAN chairman stressed the need for government intervention to safeguard lives and property.
Alhaji Mustafa, pointed out that, the union has been complying with police directives on vehicle and third-party insurance, and has implemented measures to ensure passenger safety, including screening drivers and vehicles, keeping records, and providing care in case of accidents.
“Despite contributing to revenue generation and transportation development, RTEAN is seeking greater support from governments in northern states”
He called on the state government to force illegal operators to join recognized unions, such as RTEAN, NURTW, and NARTO, to restore order in the transportation sector.
The chairman warned passengers to avoid patronizing illegal motor parks, emphasizing the importance of safety.
