Saudi Arabia Approves Burial Of Aminu Dantata In Madinah

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted approval for the burial of late Nigerian business mogul and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in the holy city of Madinah—fulfilling a deeply personal wish he expressed during his lifetime.

Dantata passed away on Friday in Abu Dhabi at the age of 93. Initial arrangements were made to fly his remains to Kano, Nigeria, pending permission for burial in Saudi Arabia.

In a major development, Saudi authorities have now approved the request, allowing the revered philanthropist to be laid to rest in one of Islam’s holiest sites.

His relative, Sanusi Dantata, confirmed the update on social media, writing:
“Alhamdulillah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted approval for the remains of late Alh. Aminu Dantata to be buried in the Holy land of Madinah! Arrangements are ongoing for his Janazah tomorrow, Insha Allah, in the Holy Prophet’s mosque.”

The Janazah (funeral prayer) is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, at Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet’s Mosque), Islam’s second-holiest site after the Kaaba in Makkah. Being buried in Madinah is widely regarded as a rare and spiritual honor among Muslims around the world.
