Primeboy Breaks Silence on Mohbad’s Final Moments in Interview With VeryDarkMan

In a candid interview with VeryDarkMan, Owodunni Ibrahim, popularly known as Primeboy, has opened up about the events that unfolded before the tragic death of his close friend and singer, Mohbad.
The interview sheds new light on the viral rumors, public accusations, and Primeboy’s four-month ordeal in detention.
“I Never Touched Mohbad”
Addressing speculations that he physically assaulted Mohbad or was involved in any altercation that led to his death, Primeboy said:
“I never touched or hit Mohbad at the show. There was no fight, no glass injury—nothing like that.”
According to him, after Mohbad performed at the event, he expressed a strong desire to leave immediately. However, some area boys had gathered near the car, and Mohbad insisted on stepping out to meet them. Primeboy said he tried to discourage him.
“I told Wunmi [Mohbad’s wife] to talk to him, but she said, ‘Is he not your friend? You talk to him yourself.’”
Mohbad eventually stepped out of the car, opened Primeboy’s door, and insisted he should come down. Primeboy, sensing tension, apologized for getting involved in Mohbad and Wunmi’s private issues.
“He was angry, and I apologized for poking my nose into their matter. But he still told me to get down.”
Cubana Chief Priest Tried to Intervene
Primeboy said he went straight to Cubana Chief Priest, who was on stage at the time, and explained the situation. Cubana instructed him to wait while he went to check on Mohbad. But before he returned, Mohbad and the others had already left the venue.
“I didn’t know they had all gone. The next day, I texted Wunmi to let me come pick my bag from the car. She replied, ‘Don’t come here for now.’ I didn’t hear from Mohbad again after that.”
Finding Out About Mohbad’s Death
Primeboy recounted how he found out about Mohbad’s passing days later:
“I was asleep when my friend woke me and said Mohbad was dead. I was shocked. I immediately called his dad, who said he was on his way to the house.”
He also confirmed that he recognized one of the men in the viral video where people were shouting “Mohbad is dead.”
“I know the guy with dreads, Adewest. He was always around Mohbad, but I don’t know exactly what he did for him.”
Arrest, Detention, and Emotional Toll
Despite having no known involvement in Mohbad’s death, Primeboy said he was declared wanted by the police without being invited for questioning.
“Even when I was in the cell, police officers told me they knew I had nothing to do with Mohbad’s death.”
He spent four months in detention, a period he described as damaging to his life and reputation.
