NSCDC Arrests Four Suspects for Vandalising Telecom and Power Equipment in Ondo

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, have apprehended four individuals suspected of vandalism while allegedly transporting stolen telecommunication cables, wires, and electrical transformer components from Kano to Lagos.
The suspects, identified as Mogaji Ibrahim, Umaru Adamu, Abba Muhazu, and Adamu Idris, were intercepted at the old Ore Toll Gate along the Lagos Expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to the NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Daniel Aidamenbor, the arrest was based on credible intelligence provided to the command.
“They were caught moving vandalised telecommunication wires, equipment belonging to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) including transformer parts, high-tension cables, copper and armoured cables, and other metal objects cut to size,” Aidamenbor stated.
He confirmed that the recovered materials have been secured as evidence.
Aidamenbor further disclosed that the suspects are in custody as investigations continue to uncover their sponsors and any other accomplices involved in the operation.
He also reiterated the command’s resolve to tackle economic sabotage and protect critical national infrastructure across the country.
