NNPC Names New Heads of Corporate Communications and Relations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the appointment of Andy Odeh and Morenike Adewunmi, to head its communications and relations functions.

Odeh was named Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Adewunmi took on the role of Chief Relations Officer.

According to a statement issued by NNPC Ltd. on Tuesday, the appointments are in line with the company’s drive to strengthen its engagement with stakeholders and enhance its corporate communications strategy.

Odeh, who joins NNPC after a distinguished 26-year career at Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), has more than 30 years of experience spanning oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting. 

At NLNG, he held several leadership positions, including General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development. He is credited with overseeing the company’s rebranding initiatives, managing award-winning communications campaigns, and establishing the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting.

He is an alumnus of the University of Jos, the University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

Adewunmi, a legal professional with over 25 years of industry experience, previously served at the Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN), where she specialized in regulatory affairs, government relations, and stakeholder management.

Her leadership roles at Shell included Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager, where she liaised with key arms of government, ministries, and agencies. A graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University and the Nigerian Law School, Adewunmi is also regarded as an expert in managing non-technical risks.

NNPC Ltd. said the appointments underscore its commitment to deepening stakeholder trust and sustaining transparent communications as it evolves as a fully commercial entity.
