Nigerian Artist Recounts Early Beginnings: I Started Art at Age 5

In a recent interview with ASIWAJUMEDIA, Adimchinobi Goodness Samuel, a versatile Nigerian artist, painter, and art consultant, reminisced about his artistic journey, tracing it back to the tender age of 5.
“I started art at the age of 5, drawing everything I saw, from Bible stories to movie covers and WWE Superstars,” Adimchinobi shared, reflecting on his early passion for art,” he stated.

Despite his young age, Mr Adimchinobi’s talent was undeniable, often leading him to draw on school desks and gaining recognition throughout his academic journey from primary to secondary school.
“Those days in school, I had the bad habit of drawing on school desks,” he confessed, highlighting his unwavering dedication to his craft,” he said.

After graduating from secondary school, he made a pivotal decision to refine his talent further.
“It was after graduation from secondary that I decided to refine my talent,” he revealed, underscoring the significance of that moment in his artistic evolution,” he explained.
Under the mentorship of Sanusi Oliade Paul, a graduate of the University of Lagos specializing in Painting, Mr Adimchinobi honed his skills, transitioning from a future architect to a full-fledged artist and painter.
“In 2019, I took the next step in my artistic journey by enrolling in Fine and Applied Arts at AE FUNAI,” Adimchinobi shared, reflecting on his decision to pursue formal education in art,” he said.
This academic pursuit not only solidified his existing skills but also introduced him to new dimensions within the realm of art, broadening his perspective and enhancing his competence.
The culmination of his dedication and passion came to fruition with the official launch of Goodyartstudios in January 2022.
“Goodyartstudios officially launched in January 2022, it’s a testament to my artistic prowess and dedication,” Adimchinobi proudly announced, marking a significant milestone in his career,” he narrated.
Raised in Aba in Abia state, known for its bustling trade and business community, Mr Adimchinobi’s paintings often reflect the local atmosphere and delve into societal issues, particularly addressing the challenges of bad governance.

“Being raised in Aba affected me in a way, my paintings tend to align with the vibrant trade and business community here,” he explained, shedding light on the inspiration behind his artwork.
Beyond his artistic endeavours, Mr Adimchinobi’s creativity extends to music and content creation.
“Apart from the fact that I can sing, artists don’t joke with music, music is part of us,” he emphasized, highlighting the interconnectedness of art and music in his life,” he said.
With a knack for creating engaging content, he has amassed a significant following, leveraging his platform to raise awareness on social issues, including body shaming.
“One of my projects this year is on ‘Body shaming,’ I will be creating a Painting talking about body shaming,” he announced, demonstrating his commitment to using art as a medium for social change,” he noted.
As he embarks on new projects and continues to evolve as an artist, Mr Adimchinobi remains committed to using his talents to make a meaningful impact, both in the art world and in society at large.
“In all your getting, get knowledge,” he remarked, echoing his dedication to continuous growth and learning in his artistic journey.
