NBS to Release Rebased GDP Report Monday, Says Statistician-General

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) is set to unveil Nigeria’s much-anticipated rebased Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report on Monday.
According to the Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the NBS, Adeyemi Adeniran, the rebasing exercise—covering the period from 2019 to 2024—will offer a clearer picture of the country’s economic realities.
“It is a routine statistical activity to ensure that national account statistics accurately reflect the economy,” Adeniran said.
The updated figures are expected to capture shifts in Nigeria’s economic structure, including new sectors and technological innovations that have emerged in recent years.
Experts note that GDP rebasing typically provides a more precise view of economic performance and could affect vital indicators such as the debt-to-GDP ratio and tax projections.
