Kwara autocrash claims 11 lives

At least Eleven passengers have lost their lives early Tuesday morning, while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries in an auto crash involving a DAF truck and a Toyota HiAce Bus at Ayere along Bode Sa’adu in Moro local government area of Kwara state.
The Kwara State Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps ,Stephen Dawulung said that the crash occurred around 4:50am due to wrongful overtaking and speed Violation.
The FRSC boss explained that the driver of the Toyota HiAce bus who was coming from Gombe enroute Lagos wrongfully overtook the truck which resulted in the head-on collision.
He said his men in conjunction with officers of Nigeria police command, stationed at Bode Sa’adu for end of the year traffic and security control operations immediately went to the spot of the incident for rescue operation.
Dawulung noted that eleven passengers were found dead while seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries when the officers arrived at the scene of the accident.
“A total of Eighteen (18) people (Male Adult) were involved, Eleven (11)of them sadly lost their lives while the Seven (7) others were rescued with varying degrees of injury and have been taken to near by Hospital , where they are currently receiving treatment.
He however advised drivers ,”to drive within the stipulated speed limits, avoid night journeys, and long hours of driving without adequate rest.
