Israel-Hamas truce takes effect

Fuel trucks have begun to enter Gaza from Egypt, as the four-day cease-fire between Israel and Hamas takes effect on Friday morning.
Hamas had confirmed cease-fire would begin at 7:00 a.m. under the agreement, which is also intended to provide aid to Gazans struggling to survive due to food, water, and fuel shortages.
Egypt has said that 130,000 litres of diesel and four trucks of gas will be delivered daily to Gaza when the truce starts.
Diaa Rashwan, the head of Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS), also said in a statement early on Friday that 200 trucks of aid would enter Gaza daily.
Following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, Israel launched a barrage of air and ground attacks on Gaza.
