INVESTIGATIVE REPORT: How Chinedu Ogah Allegedly Uses Fake Job Offers to Exploit Unemployed Youths in Ebonyi

A NAIJA NEWS TODAY investigation has uncovered what appears to be a disturbing pattern of exploitation and political deceit linked to the Member representing Ezza/Ikwo South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah.
The allegations are a circulated Facebook post by the lawmaker media on 13 July 2025, inviting constituents to submit their printed job applications for federal paramilitary recruitment, and a subsequent explosive post by same media aide, Mr. Charles Iteshi, which appears to confirm long-suspected abuse and fraud behind such initiatives.
In the July 13 post, Hon. Ogah encouraged his constituents to apply for advertised vacancies in the Nigeria Immigration Service, Civil Defence, Federal Fire Service, and Nigerian Correctional Service through the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
He instructed applicants to submit printouts of their applications directly to him for what he described as “onward action and other positive influences,” suggesting that he could use his position and connections to assist them in securing employment.
The post, which was shared across social media and community platforms, was received with hope by many young, unemployed constituents desperate for federal job opportunities.
However, that hope was dealt a major blow days later when Charles Iteshi, a known media aide to Hon. Ogah, issued a sarcastic Facebook post that now reads like a whistleblower’s confession. In a statement disguised as a public service warning, Iteshi revealed that many of the recruitment promises made by unnamed political actors in the state — widely believed to include his principal — were deceptive and predatory in nature.
According to him, job seekers were being lured to private residences, local government offices, and hotel rooms under the guise of submitting application documents for federal jobs. In many cases, he said, the applicants—particularly young women—were exploited sexually or financially, with no genuine recruitment processes underway.
“Some gullible ladies have been mekwed like ten good times, just because they are unemployed for years and are desperate for the employment,” he wrote, using a euphemism to describe repeated sexual exploitation.
He warned applicants not to fall for the trap, alleging that the collected documents rarely leave the rooms where they are submitted. He went further to mock the conditions in which some of the political aides live, claiming they use the application printouts as tissue paper due to lack of proper facilities in their squatting arrangements in Abakaliki.
The post also discredits the credibility of anyone without direct ties to Abuja ministries or national government offices. “If he or she is not the governor, House of Representatives member, Senator or works directly with ministries in Abuja, the possibility of your application success is just 1%,” he said. That statement, coming from a member of Ogah’s own media team, raises questions about the true purpose of the July 13 application collection drive endorsed by the lawmaker.
Although Mr. Iteshi did not mention his boss by name, his insider position and timing of the post, coming shortly after Ogah’s directive, suggest a breakdown in trust within the lawmaker’s inner circle or a deliberate attempt to dissociate from a scheme that may have gone public.
The implications are grave: that federal recruitment exercises are being hijacked by political figures for personal and political gain; that job seekers are being extorted, misled, and in some cases abused; and that application drives are being used as facades for exploitative networks with no ties to actual employment processes.
Many now believe that Hon. Ogah’s promise of employment assistance may have been part of a broader scam designed to boost his political image while preying on the desperation of the unemployed. His position as Chairman of the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions only deepens the irony and gravity of the allegations.
