Governor Lawal Appoints New Emir of Gusau

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has officially approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of Gusau Emirate.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who explained that the decision followed recommendations from the Gusau Emirate kingmakers in line with established customs and relevant laws.
Alhaji Abdulkadir succeeds his father, the late Emir Ibrahim Bello, who passed away on July 25, 2025, after ten years on the throne. Until his appointment, he held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau and is the eldest son of the late monarch.
Governor Lawal, while congratulating the 16th Emir of Gusau, urged him to uphold the legacy of his ancestors, noting his lineage as a direct descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.
The governor encouraged the new traditional ruler to promote unity, peace, and development within the emirate and beyond.
