GIGM Customer Alleges Assault, Theft at Awka Park

publisher of Naija News Today, Alefia Friday James, has accused the Manager of God Is Good Motors (GIGM), Awka branch, alongside some staff and park touts, of allegedly assaulting him and dispossessing him of personal belongings following a dispute over a booked ticket.

According to Alefia, the incident originated from an online booking he made on 24th January for a GIGM bus travelling from Awka to Abuja, for which he paid ₦35,650 through the company’s online booking platform.

He stated that the transaction was successful and that he received a booking receipt and confirmation.

Alefia explained that on the morning of his scheduled journey, he arrived at the GIGM park in Awka, Anambra State, where staff informed him that the bus was already filled.

He said he queried how this could be possible despite having a confirmed ticket, but claimed that no clear explanation was provided.

He further stated that staff proposed a refund and that while the refund process was ongoing, he began recording a video of the situation for documentation and personal protection. According to him, the situation escalated abruptly thereafter.

Alefia alleged that the Awka branch manager forcefully seized his phone and began slapping him.

He further claimed that the manager called about five touts within the park, who joined in physically assaulting him in public.

“I was attacked without any provocation,” Alefia said, describing the incident as humiliating and traumatic.

Following the alleged assault, Alefia stated that he discovered that his Moniepoint ATM card and the sum of ₦75,000 in cash were missing.

He noted that both items were in his possession prior to the incident and went missing during the attack.

Alefia expressed deep disappointment over the incident, stating that it was troubling that such alleged violence, intimidation, and theft could occur within the premises of a company widely trusted by the public.

He said he is seeking justice and accountability, while also warning members of the public.

As of the time of filing this report, God Is Good Motors had not issued an official response to the allegations.

Attempts to reach the management of the Awka branch for comments were unsuccessful.
