Fubara: No Sacrifice Too Great for Rivers’ Peace and Progress

Rivers State Suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that no sacrifice is too big to ensure the peace, stability, and progress of the state.
Addressing supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara reassured them that every step he has taken—including the recent reconciliation with his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike—was guided by a commitment to the collective good.
He acknowledged that many loyalists felt disappointed and anxious in the aftermath of the peace agreement, but stressed that difficult times demand hard decisions and concessions.
“The reconciliation process was not a decision I made alone,” he said. “At every point, there were consultations with key stakeholders and trusted allies within our political family.”
Fubara noted that the new political realities may be painful for some to accept, especially those who stood resolutely by him throughout the crisis. However, he emphasized that the overarching priority remains the peace and stability of Rivers State.
He also lamented the toll the prolonged political crisis has taken on governance, citing delays in several development projects across the state.
Despite these setbacks, the governor expressed confidence that the reconciliation would pave the way for renewed progress and faster project implementation in the weeks ahead.
