The Bendoxy Community Health Care Foundation (BCHCF) has carried out a free medical outreach in Umuome Oriuzor, Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, in an effort to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

The outreach, which took place on January 31, 2025, at Nwafia, Umuome Oriuzor, was organised by the foundation’s founder, Dr. Agbom Sunday Benjamin, and recorded a large turnout of residents who benefited from free medical services.

Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Agbom explained that the initiative was necessitated by the rising cases of cerebral vascular accident (CVA), also known as stroke, and the growing mortality rate within the community. He noted that preventable deaths could be significantly reduced through early detection, proper medical care, and increased public health awareness.

Dr. Agbom stressed that health and education are fundamental pillars of social development, adding that no society can experience meaningful progress when its population is burdened by avoidable illnesses.
As part of the outreach, participants were educated on hypertension, with emphasis placed on the importance of regular medical check-ups to enable early detection and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The team also cautioned against self-medication, warning that the misuse of over-the-counter painkillers could result in serious health complications, including kidney disease and arthritis.

Residents were further encouraged to seek medical attention in hospitals for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, rather than relying on unprescribed drugs.

Following the health talks, beneficiaries received free medical treatment and medications, administered based on individual health conditions.

In his remarks, His Royal Highness, Ezeogo Gabriel N. Ngele, Ezeogo Ishiali IV of Oriuzor, lauded Dr. Agbom and the Bendoxy Community Health Care Foundation for what he described as a landmark and maiden medical outreach in the community.

He expressed appreciation for the gesture and urged other philanthropists and organisations to support similar initiatives.
