FCT Police Warn Okada Riders Over Alleged Attack Plot in Kubwa

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a strong warning in response to a viral voice note circulating on social media, which alleges that a group of commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders, are planning to violently attack Task Force officials operating in the Kubwa area of Abuja on Friday, July 11, 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, the Command condemned the alleged plan in strong terms, describing it as “criminality that will be met with the full weight of the law.”
According to her, “Any person or group involved in planning, instigating, or contemplating carrying out any form of violent protest or attack on any law enforcement officials, under whatever guise, is hereby sternly warned to immediately abort such plans.”
SP Adeh emphasized that the Command would not hesitate to deploy all lawful means—“including arrests, prosecution, and necessary force”—to decisively deal with any individual or group threatening public order.
“This is not a threat,” she said, “but a firm assurance. The Command has both the capacity and the resolve to protect public officers, safeguard lives and property, and ensure law and order within the Federal Capital Territory.”
She further disclosed that residents should expect to see increased police presence and operational deployments in the Kubwa axis as a preventive and proactive measure. She urged residents not to panic but to cooperate with officers and continue their lawful activities without fear.
“These deployments are strictly aimed at preventing any breach of peace and should not be misconstrued,” she added.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to promptly report suspicious movements or persons to the police via the emergency lines: 0803 200 3913 and 0806 158 1938.
“In a statement by SP Josephine Adeh, the Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to the safety of all residents in the FCT and warned that no individual or group would be allowed to undermine the peace and security of the territory.”
The Command reaffirmed its stand: “No one is above the law, and any attempt to destabilize the peace will be decisively crushed.”
