FCT Police Convene Emergency G-7 Security Meeting in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Thursday, August 28, 2025, hosted an emergency G-7 security meeting in Abuja, bringing together top security heads from across the region to address the growing challenge of cross-border crimes.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the meeting was chaired by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, and held at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi. It had in attendance the Commissioners of Police from Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States, alongside State Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Commandants of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to the statement, the G-7 committee serves as a coordinated front against threats such as kidnapping, banditry, arms proliferation, human and drug trafficking, car theft, religious extremism, and the unchecked influx of destitute persons into the FCT.
The session reviewed the progress made in tackling these crimes while considering both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to strengthen joint security operations.
SP Adeh noted that the security chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive measures to safeguard residents.
“The Commissioners of Police and other security leaders have reiterated their commitment to sustaining proactive and intelligence-driven strategies that guarantee the safety and security of residents across the FCT and the neighboring states,” she stated.
Residents of the FCT were also urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the Police emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
