The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has alleged that his life and those of the company’s top management are under serious threat.

Ojulari said his efforts to implement sweeping reforms in the oil and gas sector—part of President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to revive Nigeria’s ailing refineries—have angered powerful interests determined to unseat him.

He made the disclosure on Thursday while receiving a delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its President, Festus Osifo, at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja.

Ojulari revealed that plans are underway to restore the refineries to full operation using an approach modeled after NLNG’s structure. Despite the threats, he vowed to push forward with the turnaround.
