Enugu Air Cleared for Domestic Operations Under Xejet Partnership

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved the commencement of domestic flight operations for Enugu Air through a strategic partnership with XEJet.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA. According to the statement, Enugu Air will operate initially under XEJet’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC), pending the completion of its own certification process.
“In line with the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s 5-Point Agenda aimed at promoting the growth of indigenous airlines… XEJET is duly authorised to operate scheduled commercial flights on behalf of Enugu Air under current NCAA guidelines,” the statement read in part.
The airline was formally launched on Monday, July 7, 2025, at an inauguration ceremony officiated by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah was also present at the event, which marked the start of Enugu Air’s commercial operations with three Embraer 170 aircraft, each configured to seat around 76 passengers.
The NCAA explained that XEJet had completed a variation process that incorporated the EMB 170 aircraft into its Operations Specifications, making it eligible to operate flights for Enugu Air. Customers can currently book tickets via XEJet’s platform, accessible through a redirect on Enugu Air’s official website.
The partnership, the NCAA noted, aligns with broader efforts to support indigenous carriers, streamline regulatory processes, and enhance business ease in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
The Authority reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in safety, security, and consumer protection, while also ensuring a level playing field across the sector.
