Edo Governor Suspends Oil and Gas Aide Over Unapproved Fundraising

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has suspended his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Osemwengie Isere, over allegations of unauthorised fundraising linked to a planned oil and gas summit.
The suspension was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, who also announced the immediate cancellation of the summit scheduled to begin on August 7.
“Due to the breach, the proposed summit is suspended, and Isere is directed to refund all monies collected from donors for the event,” the statement read.
Ikhilor further cautioned members of the public and potential donors, stating, “Prospective donors are hereby advised to stop all dealings with the suspended adviser.”
No further details were provided regarding the number of donors affected or the amount of money collected.
