Ebonyi Governor Suspends 86 Government Officials for Missing Key Event

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has ordered the immediate suspension of 86 government officials across various departments for failing to attend a major government function.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dr. Monday Uzor, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said: “The Governor views the absence of these officials from such an important event as a serious breach of duty and a disregard for the responsibilities of public office.”
Those affected by the suspension include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 23 permanent secretaries. The Governor directed that all suspended officials proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary.
The list includes several top-ranking officials such as Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, Prof. Leonard Uguru, Barr. Ikeuwa Omebe, Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu, Chief Richard Idike, and Dr. Gabriel Odo, among others.
According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect.
This development is seen as part of the Governor’s commitment to discipline, accountability, and a renewed sense of duty within the state’s public service.
