Ebonyi Governor Flags Off Vocational Training for 100 Youths

The Ebonyi State Government has launched a three-month intensive vocational training programme aimed at equipping 100 young people with marketable skills for self-reliance.
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa, performed the flag-off at Remeritona Hotel and Suites, Abakaliki. He said the initiative was designed to positively engage youths with resourceful skills that would enable them to become job creators.
“I want to congratulate all of you, and urge you to remain dedicated,” he told the trainees. “Devote your time towards acquiring these skills. Show commitment to the teachings and lectures because it will equip you to be self-reliant.”
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof. Emmanuel Echiegu, who chaired the event, described the programme as a platform for igniting hope, creating opportunities, and charting new paths for the future of the youth. He praised Governor Nwifuru’s commitment to youth empowerment and urged participants to take the training seriously.
Commissioner for Skills Development and Job Creation, Hon. Elijah Oko Udu, highlighted that the training would cover ICT, new technology, production, entrepreneurship, and other vital economic sectors. “This programme is a direct investment in our future… providing our youths with employable skills, confidence, and capacity to innovate and compete in today’s knowledge-driven economy,” he said.
Other government officials, including the Commissioner for Market Development, Prof. Nwogo Obasi; Commissioner for Women Affairs, Barr. Felicia Nwamkpuma; and the Commissioner for Investment, Chief Nnannaya Elechi (represented by Mrs. Anthonia Igwe), lauded the Governor’s initiative and urged beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity.
The training is part of the Nwifuru administration’s wider strategy to combat unemployment and foster economic self-reliance among Ebonyi youths.
