Veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has responded to the Lagos State Government’s decision to rename the Charly Boy Bus Stop in Bariga to Olamide Baddo Bus Stop, in honor of rapper and Bariga native Olamide Adedeji.

In a brief reaction to Daily Post on Saturday, Charly Boy said, “Na dem sabi.”

The change was officially announced during the commissioning of local projects in Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Friday. The outgoing LCDA Chairman, Hon. Kolade David Alabi, disclosed the renaming as part of his final activities in office.

Ilaje Road is now King Sunny Ade Road
Bariga Road becomes Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way
Community Road, Akoka is now Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road
Ajidagan Street is renamed Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street

The move has sparked a wave of reactions online. One X user, Ola, argued that the stop was never officially called Charly Boy Bus Stop, but rather Second Pedro Bus Stop, claiming the renaming reflects political bitterness and a disregard for local history.

Another user, AKIN OMO AKIN, said Charly Boy named the stop after himself without any formal recognition from the local authorities.

OG Beeperl added that Olamide is greater than Charly Boy and his entire generation.

Several other users accused the Lagos State Government of using the renaming to play petty politics.
