Baderinwa Urges Friendly Discipline Ahead of 2024 Batch A Orientation

Ahead of the 2024 Batch A stream NYSC orientation course kicking off Nationwide on Wednesday, the state coordinator, NYSC Lagos, Mrs. Yetunde Baderiwa have called on camp officials to instill discipline in the prospective corps members under a friendly atmosphere.
The state coordinator made the call while addressing officials in the first camp meeting held on Tuesday in Iyana-ipaja Lagos.

Mrs Baderinwa, who said the purpose of the meeting is to set an agenda for the Course, and agree on how to approach the Course, emphasized that the job of the course officials is to re-engineer the corps members, preparing them for the outside world.
According to her, if a successful course must be achieved, the corps members must be received warmly into the camp and that an enabling environment must be created for them to learn. She stated that the overall objective of the course is to ensure corps members do not return home the way they came.

Speaking on the ground rules for the Camp, she said all officials must be resident in camp, and that officials are not allowed to over socialize with corps members but must maintain maturity at all times, must not abuse corps members or engage them physically, leading to assault.
She also encouraged them to look after their health and ensure all health issues are not overlooked but handled seriously.
Mrs. Baderinwa appealed to the officials to endure the little discomforts that may come with having to leave their comfort zones to settle in the camp for the duration of the Course. She encouraged them to bear the discomforts.
Similarly, the Camp Director of the course, Mrs Itohan Ehimwenma, called on the officials to give room for collaboration and Synergy.

Using the theme of the course as illustration, “Excellence; my pathway to success,” she said if the corps members must tread the path of excellence, officials must help them comply.
She added that officials cannot give what they don’t have which means they have to exhibit excellent traits. She said if the officials must transform them, they must have what it takes, collaborate, pose a united and indivisive front.
Mrs Ehimwenma also said if the officials must achieve success during the 2024 Batch A stream II course, from the onset, the issues of welfare, security and discipline must be gotten correctly.
