NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp: PCMs Receive CDS Lecture

Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) of the 2024 Batch “B” Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp have received a lecture on Community Development Service (CDS).
Mrs. Yewande Abimbola, the lecturer, emphasized the importance of engaging with the community to identify their needs and involve key stakeholders, such as community heads, youth leaders, and opinion leaders, in personal projects.
She explained the types of CDS, including Group, Collaborative, and Personal, and stressed that every corps member must join a Community Development Service, group during their service year.
Abimbola clarified that corps members can only belong to one CDS group and must dedicate their service to it.
She also elaborated on personal projects and group CDS, noting that both should be carried out concurrently, with personal CDS being an elective decision and group Community Development Service being compulsory. Before implementing a project, approval must be sought from the State Coordinator through the Local Government Inspector, Zonal Inspector, and Head of Community Development Service, branch.
This lecture aims to equip PCMs with the knowledge and understanding necessary to effectively engage in Community Development Service, a vital aspect of the NYSC program.
