APC NEC Meeting Moved to Presidential Villa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a change in venue for its highly anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for today, Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Originally slated to hold at the party’s national secretariat in Wuse II, Abuja, the meeting will now take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa by 2:00 p.m.
The update was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who said the venue was moved due to logistics.
“The All Progressives Congress APC announces that the meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled to be held on Thursday, 24th July, 2025, will now take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The change of venue from the Party’s National Secretariat – 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, is due to logistical reasons,”the statement read.
In anticipation of today’s NEC meeting, APC governors converged in Abuja on Wednesday for a closed-door strategy session at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge. The meeting was convened by Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
Among those in attendance were Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Monday Okpebholo (Edo). Also present were Bassey Otu (Cross River), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Usman Ododo (Kogi) and Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna).
Although the exact agenda of today’s meeting has not been officially revealed, party insiders suggest the selection of a new National Chairman tops the list. The position became vacant in June following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped aside to attend to health and personal issues.
Ganduje’s departure has left a leadership gap ahead of important by-elections, including gubernatorial polls in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun states.
Acting National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori is expected to preside over the meeting where key decisions may be taken on the schedule for congresses, standing committee restructures, and the status of the APC’s e-registration drive across Nigeria.
Also up for debate is whether the national chairmanship should remain in the North-West, Ganduje’s zone, or revert to the North-Central, where it was originally zoned before the 2022 adjustment.
