AE-FUNAI Mass Comm Dept Kicks Off Postgraduate Programme

The Department of Mass Communication at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, AE-FUNAI officially commenced its postgraduate programme today with an orientation ceremony for its pioneer students.

The Head of Department, Dr. Joseph Chukwu, declared the orientation open, describing the day as a landmark moment in the history of the department.

He expressed deep gratitude to those whose efforts made the launch possible, notably the Vice Chancellor, AE-FUNAI Distinguished Professor Sunday Elom, for his unwavering support.

Dr. Chukwu also acknowledged the contributions of Professor Smart Otu, the immediate past Dean under whom the journey to establish the programme began; the current Dean, Professor Kalu Uma; and the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Professor Nwabueze Elom, for their institutional backing.

In his remarks, Dr. Chukwu paid tribute to Associate Professor Ngozi Uduma, the department’s pioneer Head, and Dr. Vincent Odoh, his immediate predecessor, for laying the groundwork for the postgraduate programme. He also recognized the collective efforts of faculty members in bringing the vision to fruition.

Addressing the incoming students, he congratulated them on being the first-ever cohort of postgraduate students in the department, urging them to embrace the responsibility of setting a solid foundation for future entrants.
