AE-FUNAI Governing Council Approves Promotion of 47 Academic Staff

The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has approved the promotion of 47 academic staff to various ranks following its 40th Regular Meeting, which held from July 7 to July 11, 2025.
According to the decisions ratified by the Council, nine lecturers were promoted to the rank of Professor, twelve to Reader, and twenty-six to Senior Lecturer for the 2023/2024 appraisal year.
The new Professors include Fabian Onyekachi Ugwu (Industrial and Organizational Psychology), Nweze Emmanuel (Mathematics – Atomization and Modeling), Okolie Nkem Charles (Social and Political Philosophy), Cyril Sunday Ume (Chemical Engineering and Analysis), Benedette Nneka Okezie (Environmental Accounting), Nworie Okoro (Medical Microbiology), Otu Akanu Otu (Public Administration), Muonye Jane (Agricultural Economics), and Okolo Chinwe Jane (African Francophone Literature).
In addition, the Council regularized the promotion of Albert E. Okorocha (Physiology) and Francis A. Ibiam (ENT) to the rank of Professor after successful external assessments.
Those promoted to the rank of Reader are Chuks Marcel Ezemoyih (Business Education – Accounting), Obande-Ogbuinya Nkiru Edith (Health Education), Ikpor Isaac Monday (Accounting), Sikakwe Gregory Udie (Environmental Geosciences), Ezurike Benjamin Okechukwu (Design and Automation), Eni Onyekachi (Environmental Law), Nnachi Robert Azu (Accounting), Njamanze Vivian Chizoma (Sociology), Enyoghsim Oguwuike Michael (Monetary Economics), Ojide Makuachukwu Gabriel (Development Economics), Nwosu Hyginus Emeka (Human Resource Management), and Nwoma Chukwu Romanus (African Literature).
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Elom, described the promotions as part of the administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence and advancing staff welfare. He reaffirmed that all eligible staff who meet the promotion criteria would continue to be considered strictly on merit.
Since the assumption of office, Professor Elom has maintained a policy of yearly promotions across all cadres of staff, emphasizing transparency and fairness in the appraisal process.
