ADC Inaugurates Mark, Aregbesola, Others as New NWC

The National Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday officially inaugurated the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
Led by former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman, the party also swore in former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi as National Publicity Secretary, among others.
The opposition party at its national executive committee, NEC’s 99th meeting held in Abuja also dissolved the old and inaugurated the new NWC while re-instating the suspended 17 state chairman except the 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.
Mark, during the inauguration warned against anti-party activities and other forms of indiscipline, assuring them of his commitment to full democratic practices and principles that will abhor imposition and special privileges but push for stronger Internal democracy, transparency and accountability.
Mark also announced the creation of a 50-member policy committee that will define the party’s blueprint across key sectors including health, education, agriculture, security, and the economy with The aim to ensure the ADC is recognised for “clear ideology
In valedictory speech, the former national chairman, Ralph Nwosu reflected the party’s transformation under his leadership and revealed that some powerful forces tried to undermine the ADC-led coalition initiative by offering him three ministerial appointments which he rejected, describing it as a desperate attempt to weaken the unity of the opposition.
He said, “We will open the gates for the next generation. Our policies, nominations, and leadership roles will reflect meaningful inclusion of youths and women and not just tokenism.
“This is why we have reserved 35% of our leadership positions for women. It is also our commitment to have youths below the age of 40 years in our leadership.”
The 99th NEC which established a caretaker committee led by David Mark.l that named former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi as National Publicity Secretary, and six Deputy National Chairmen from different geopolitical zones
