Adamawa Police Command Arrests Child Trafficking Syndicate, Rescue 13 Victims

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a child trafficking syndicate, and rescued 13 victims, following intelligence reports, regarding growing cases of missing children, and trafficking in the State.
Adamawa State Police Commissioner, CP Morris Dankwombo, disclosed this to journalists on Monday during a news conference.
The syndicate, Ngozi Abdulwahab, aged 45, who hails from Anambra State and a resident of Jambutu in Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State confessed that she has been secretly involved in the nefarious act for quite some time.
She sold the 13 children to a 65-year-old woman, Mrs. Uche Okoye, who lives in Kabuku Nnewi, Anambra State, where the Police from Adamawa State, traced and arrested the criminals, and rescued the victims back to Adamawa State.
Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwombo, had in a briefing, disclosed that the police will not rest on its oars, until the case is finalized.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had earlier visited the children at the Specialist Hospital in Yola, where they have been receiving medical attention, and equally instructed his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, to move the kids to a better location, an assignment that has since been carried out, to allow for better caretaking of the children, pending investigations, before reuniting them with their parents.
The Police commissioner said a total of 567 suspects were arrested for various offences, including kidnapping, culpable homicide, armed robbery, child trafficking, rape, sexual offences, and Shilla gangsterism.
He listed others arrested to include a suspected drug dealer, accused of murdering a man over a N50,000 dispute from the sale of Indian hemp.
“Seven suspected members of the Shilla gang are also in Police for house-to-house robbery, among others,” he said.
The Commissioner listed items recovered from the suspects to include “six AK-47 rifles, three pump-action guns, 11 locally fabricated rifles, assorted rounds of live ammunition.
“Others are three stolen vehicles, five tricycles, four motorcycles, two gas cylinders, computers, mobile phones, charms and other exhibits,” he added.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for his continued support to the police and security agencies.
