12-Year-Old Boy Killed in Mushin During Cult Clash

Tragedy struck the Olosha area of Mushin, Lagos State, as a 12-year-old boy killed in Mushin was caught in the crossfire of a violent cult clash on Wednesday evening. The boy, identified only as Wasiu, died after being struck by a stray bullet while buying food from a local vendor.
The 12-year-old boy killed in Mushin reportedly stepped out around 8:00 pm to purchase food from a well-known vendor, Iya Ibeji, when rival cult groups clashed violently in the area. Eyewitnesses say the sound of sporadic gunfire sent residents scrambling for safety.
“We started hearing gunshots around 8:00 pm and everyone ran into their houses,” said Tale Amoo, a resident. “Shops shut down immediately. Wasiu was caught in the middle of the chaos while trying to flee for his life.”
According to another source, Wasiu was struck while waiting for his food order and was later found unresponsive after the violence subsided. Attempts to transport him to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) were unsuccessful, as the main gate was reportedly locked and alternative routes were blocked by cultists.
“The area was under siege. Even when people tried to get him help, there was no way out,” another local lamented.
The death of the 12-year-old boy killed in Mushin has thrown the community into mourning, as fears continue to rise over the increasing cult-related violence in the area. Reports suggest that gunfire was heard throughout the night, with residents describing Olosha as a war zone.
Mushin Local Government Vice Chairman, Tubosun Aruwe, issued a statement condemning the violence. “I am deeply saddened by this senseless loss of life. The death of an innocent child is a tragedy that affects us all,” he said.
Aruwe extended condolences to Wasiu’s family and urged security agencies to investigate and prosecute those behind the violence. “We demand swift justice and stronger security to prevent such tragedies in the future,” he added.
Efforts to reach Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
