Zlatan Breaks Silence: What He REALLY Told VDM About Mohbad’s Death

In a startling turn of events that has reignited debates across Nigeria, street-hop sensation Zlatan Ibile has finally spoken out about the heated exchanges between him and outspoken activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) regarding the tragic death of singer Mohbad.

Zlatan, who had remained largely silent while the controversy swirled, reportedly sent a series of private messages to VDM, accusing him of “exploiting Mohbad’s death to chase clout and social media relevance.” According to a leaked screenshot circulating on Instagram blogs, Zlatan allegedly confronted VDM with the words:

“You were never there for Mohbad when he was alive. Stop acting like you cared more than everyone. You’re using his death to grow your page.”

This accusation has stunned fans and thrown more confusion into an already bitter saga. For weeks, VDM has positioned himself as a vocal champion demanding justice for Mohbad, even going as far as to threaten lawsuits against those he claims were complicit in the late singer’s suffering. But Zlatan’s comments suggest there is another side to the story — one many have refused to consider.

Insiders claim that Zlatan privately told close friends he felt “disgusted” by how the tragedy has been turned into what he called a “social media circus.” In the same leaked messages, Zlatan allegedly warned VDM to “keep my name out of your mouth before you push fake narratives.”

While VDM has not directly denied the authenticity of the messages, he responded in a live video, calling Zlatan a “coward hiding behind DMs” and insisting that the fight for justice is bigger than any celebrity ego.

The fallout has been instant. Fans are split down the middle. Some are backing Zlatan for daring to call out what they see as performative activism, while others accuse him of trying to divert attention from the unanswered questions surrounding Mohbad’s death. One commenter wrote:

“Zlatan is right. Everyone is suddenly a saint now. Where were they when Mohbad was crying out for help?”

Another fired back:

“Zlatan should stop shifting blame. This is exactly why justice in Nigeria is slow — people protecting themselves instead of speaking up.”

The controversy has also put pressure on other artists who have maintained a calculated silence. Industry watchers believe that more private conversations will leak in the coming days as the rift deepens.

Meanwhile, Zlatan’s management has refused to issue any formal statement, fueling speculation that the singer is determined to stand by his words, no matter the backlash.
