Zamfara Police Arrest 50-Year-Old Bandit, Gun Runner, Informants

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested eight suspects, including a 50-year-old bandit, a gun runner, and two informants, in a series of coordinated operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements across the state.
Spokesperson of the command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Yazid Abubakar, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the police headquarters in Gusau. He described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the command’s ongoing fight against banditry.
According to him, the 50-year-old suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed from Maru Local Government Area, was apprehended alongside seven others during separate raids based on credible intelligence from residents.
“This is part of the command’s efforts to rid Zamfara of criminal elements,” Abubakar said, confirming the arrest of a suspected bandit, two informants, a gun runner, and five other individuals connected to criminal activities.
Items recovered during the operations include assorted rifles, a stolen ATM card, leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and a Toyota Corolla vehicle.
