Zamfara Killings: Northern Senators Condemn Heinous Act

The Northern Senators Forum has condemned the recent deadly attack and kidnapping in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, describing it as a heinous crime that must not go unpunished.
The Forum expressed deep condolences to the people of Kaura Namoda, especially the families of the victims, following the killing of at least 35 innocent civilians, despite the payment of ransom.
The incident, it noted, is a grim reminder of the persistent security challenges facing the nation.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the senators said the barbaric act does not represent the values, people, or aspirations of the Northern region.
They emphasized that the North is known for its hospitality, peace, and cultural harmony, which such acts of violence seek to destroy.
The Forum reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Zamfara State in this difficult time and prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in peace, while also asking God to comfort their grieving families.
The Forum called on security agencies to work closely with local vigilante groups to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
It also urged the Nigeria Police and other security outfits to adopt a more proactive approach to tackling security threats
Senator Yar’adua commended President Bola Tinubu for his continued support of security agencies through increased funding and the recent mass recruitment of personnel.
