Crisis: PDP won’t die – Wike

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibrahim Abdullahi, has disclosed that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, will soon be removed from the party.

Speaking in an interview with Arise News, Abdullahi said Wike’s continued presence in the PDP has become a liability, describing him as an “albatross” and insisting the party would be better off without him.

“The last time I checked, he (Wike) is still a member of the PDP, he hasn’t come out to denounce his membership—even though it’s coming with some disadvantage, like many have observed. A lot of persons will say he is also another albatross to PDP,” Abdullahi said.

When asked if the party would be stronger without Wike, he responded, “It is better for him to leave. The PDP cannot be held ransom by any individual.”

Abdullahi revealed that the PDP has received several petitions accusing Wike of anti-party activities. He confirmed that once the disciplinary committee finalizes its review, the party will act.

“Anyone who constitutes a clog in the wheel of the party’s progress should leave so PDP can regroup and restore hope to Nigerians,” he said. “If Nyesom Wike is not to the advantage of the PDP—which many argue—then he can bid PDP farewell and do his bidding elsewhere.”

Abdullahi added that a review process is ongoing to deal with dissenting voices and that Wike is one of those under consideration for expulsion: “Once the committee comes up with its recommendation, we’ll fire them all.”
