Wike Increases Band’s Pay After They Perform Song In Chinese At Event

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has gone viral after a video surfaced showing him announcing a pay raise for his musical band — all because they learned to sing in Chinese.
The lighthearted moment took place during an event organized for Chinese nationals, where Wike applauded the band’s unexpected linguistic talent. Clearly impressed by their rendition of a Chinese song, he jokingly declared that their performance warranted a salary increase.
“Now that my band can sing in Chinese language, I’ll now increase their fees,” Wike said, drawing laughter and applause from the audience.
The band then entertained the crowd with a song that repeatedly mentioned Wike’s name and ended with the phrase “Chi hu chan,” much to the delight of the attendees.
The clip has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many Nigerians amused by the minister’s humorous tone and entertained by the band’s unexpected skill.
