Wike Highlights Crucial Role of Religious Organizations in National Stability

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, emphasized the importance of religious organizations in maintaining peace and stability.
He made this known during a meeting with a delegation led by Archbishop Michael Akinwale from the Abuja Archdiocese of the Methodist Church of Nigeria.
Mr Wike stressed the need for collaboration between the government and religious groups to address current challenges.

“For me, the role the church is playing is very important. So, the government will always partner with the church and other religious groups because the government cannot do it alone. Just like the President said the other day, the country requires prayers for peace, we require prayers for stability, we require prayers for the country to move forward.”
“It takes the church and other religious groups that have been responsible and praying for this nation to remain together. And therefore, whatever we can do to support, we will always do that. That is why as FCTA, we take responsibility for maintaining the Christian Centre and the National Mosque. These are two national assets for which the FCTA is responsible for their maintenance because we all believe we serve one God,” he said.
He expressed his full support for religious organizations and acknowledged their invaluable contribution to societal harmony.
He also emphasized the significance of religious landmarks such as the Christian Centre and the National Mosque, reaffirming the FCT Administration’s commitment to their maintenance.
In his earlier remark, Mr Akinwale congratulated Mr Wike on his appointment and expressed solidarity with his vision for the FCT.
He also discussed potential avenues for collaboration between the Methodist Church and the FCT Administration to advance shared objectives.
The meeting was attended by dignitaries including the Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madehin, and FCTA General Counsel Salman Dako. It highlighted the importance of fostering synergy between government and religious entities for the nation’s prosperity and stability.
